Planning and design

Energy-saving regulations are a key factor when designing and constructing building substructures. Hilti can support you every step of the way, from planning to the selection and installation of your façade. Experience a larger reduction in costs by using our reduced heat transfer and thermal bridge-free brackets for your HVF design.

Energy efficiency

The building sector is responsible for around 40% of energy consumption. A contributor to this is that about 75% of buildings are thermally inefficient, which provides an opportunity for energy efficiency improvement using façade solutions.

The façade of the building is the largest component as it is the interface between the inside and outside. Façades define the energy efficiency of a building. With ventilated façades, metal substructures can be responsible for up to 50% of the heat loss. This makes a thermally optimized building shell even more important.

Engineered solution

With the need for increased thermal requirements, achieving high R-values and reducing insulation thickness become more important. The selection of a substructure is critical to achieve the desired thermal efficiency of the building. Hilti engineering designs takes a holistic approach for engineering the entire building to be regulation compliant while achieving utmost thermal efficiency for the building.

Full application coverage

  • The interplay between the substructure and insulation must be considered during planning.
  • Our thermal bridge-free and reduced thermal bridge systems minimize the thermal conductivity of the substructure. Systems without thermal bridges (FOX-T systems) are recommended to meet the highest standard for energy efficiency.
  • In terms of finding the ideal system solution for your project, we can create a system configuration matching your individual needs, depending on the R-value (heat transfer coefficient) requirement.

Fire tested solution

Our entire rainscreen façade sub-framing system has been thoroughly tested and complies with NFPA 285, meeting the highest standard for specification. Our Façade system is installed globally and complies with standards set by British Standard 8414.
