Can anyone give me references for seismic performance based design for pole-mounted electrical substation?
The validation is done based on a time scaled ground motion (response of shake table). However, for this validated numerical model, do the time histories (to be used for incremental dynamic analysis) need to time scaled based on the similitude laws for further analysis? Note: time histories for IDA are obtained by matching the target response spectrum of the numerical model.
“Based on FEMA-356, first you need to assume a point as yield pointing and then follow these steps: 1- your bi-linear curve is composed of elastic and post-elastic part. then, elastic part will be gained from connecting origin to assumed yield point.
the intersection of elastic line and real curve must be at a point with 0.6Vy. which Vy is shear at yield point. then it is one of the conditions to modify assumed yield point. 2- connect yield point to the target displacement point, but consider that your assumed Vy must not exceed maximum shear capacity of building. 3- the area under your bi-linear curve and real curve must approximately match. if not, you can modify assumed yield point to get it. ”
