Product information

Safety

Basic safety precautions

Image alternative WARNING! Read all safety precautions and other instructions. The product and its ancillary equipment can present hazards if used incorrectly by untrained personnel or if used not in accordance with the intended use.
Keep all safety precautions and instructions for future reference.
  • Check the product for damage before use. Have damage repaired by Hilti Service.
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the product. Do not use the tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating the tool can result in serious personal injury.
  • Do not render safety devices ineffective and do not remove information and warning notices.
  • Laser radiation in excess of Class 2 can be emitted if the product is opened without correct procedure being followed. Have the product repaired only by Hilti Service.
  • Do not tamper with or attempt to make alterations to the product.
  • Never aim the product against the sun or other powerful light sources.
  • Take the influences of the surrounding area into account. Do not use the tool where there is a risk of fire or explosion.
  • Check the accuracy of the product if it has been dropped or subjected to other mechanical stresses.
  • Although the product is designed for the tough conditions of jobsite use, like other laser instruments it should be treated with care.
  • Comply with national health and safety requirements.

Working safely with laser tools

  • Laser Class 2/Class II devices may be operated only by appropriately trained persons.
  • Laser beams should not be projected at eye height.
  • Make sure that the laser beam is not accidentally projected on to surfaces that produce mirror-like reflections.
  • Do not permit the laser beam to project beyond the controlled area.
  • Switch the laser tool off when it is not in use.
  • Store laser tools, when not in use, in places to which unauthorized persons have no access.

Intended use

The product described here is a line laser. It is for use in combination with the Hilti DCH 150‑SL slitting machine. The laser beam is projected directly ahead of the slitting machine, indicating the line of cut.

Operation

Changing battery

  1. Remove the cover from the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the battery from the battery compartment and disengage the battery clip.
    • First-time use: Remove the insulating film.
  3. Connect the battery clip to the new battery and insert the battery.
  4. Position the lid lugs first on the battery compartment and close the lid. The lid snaps closed with an audible click.

Installing the laser

  1. Set the laser on to the rail of the laser interface from above and slide the laser down the rail until seated.
  2. Secure the laser by turning the locking screw clockwise.

Switching the laser on / off

Press the on/off button to switch the laser beam on. Press the button again to switch the laser beam off.
The laser is active for 7 minutes after being switched on. It switches off automatically when this period of time expires.

Care, transport and storage

Transport

  • Use the Hilti shipping box or packaging of equivalent quality for transporting or shipping your equipment.

Cleaning and drying

  1. Blow dust off the laser exit window.
  2. Do not touch the laser exit window with your fingers.
  3. Clean the tool with a soft clean cloth. If necessary, moisten the cloth slightly with pure alcohol or a little water.
    Abrasive cleaning materials may scratch the glass and impair the accuracy of the laser tool.
  4. Observe the temperature limits when drying the equipment.

Troubleshooting

If the trouble you are experiencing is not listed in this table or you are unable to remedy the problem by yourself, contact Hilti Service.

Disposal

Image alternative Most of the materials from which Hilti tools and appliances are manufactured can be recycled. The materials must be correctly separated before they can be recycled. In many countries, your old tools, machines or appliances can be returned to Hilti for recycling. Ask Hilti Service or your Hilti representative for further information.
